Donald G Griffin, 66, Salina, KS, passed away June 15, 2023.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Louie and Thelma, siblings Joe and Deborah, and niece Krista.
Don is survived by his two loving sons Karson Griffin (Salina) and Jimmy Griffin (Russell), brothers Tim Griffin (Beverly) and Ron Griffin (Salina), and sister Sue Rider (Beverly). He is also survived by his granddaughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Don grew up in Beverly and graduated from Tescott High School. He then was in the Army until honorably discharged. Don was a truck driver and general contractor who worked hard and traveled to many destinations for work.
Don was never a stranger to a person he met. Whether you wanted to know Don or not, he made you his friend in good conversation. He was also known for his sense of humor and his strong opinions. Don was such a giving person that he proceeded on with organ donation to help save the lives of others.
Don was also known for going to Bayard's Cafe for breakfast every morning, every meal with an extra side of gravy or butter, stopping at the gas station for his cigarettes and lottery tickets. He was also an avid classic country music listener. Most of us that know him, know that he would be cracking a cold Bud Light up in heaven right now.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Karson Griffin or Jimmy Griffin 531 S Main St, Russell KS 67665 to help with funeral expenses.
A graveside service will take place at Beverly Cemetery Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Beverly Community Hall. There will also be a celebration of life at Chuck's Bar on Sunday, June 25 from 12-4 p.m.
