Lois Marie Barber, 86, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, December 23rd, at her home surrounded by her children.
Lois was born in Salina, Kansas on December 17, 1938, a daughter of Henrietta (Pearson) and Avon Selleck, of Assaria, Kansas.
After graduating from Assaria High School, she attended Marymount College to become a Registered Nurse. She spent her first years working at Wesley Hospital, in Wichita, Kansas where she obtained her Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist training. Later on, she worked at Hillcrest, Deaconess, and Bone & Joint Hospital of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
When Lois wasn’t working, she loved to dance, cook, and entertain for her friends and family.
She believed strongly in education and tried to instill those values in all of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Brown (William); son, David Harland (Starla); daughter; Dana Linn; and two sisters, Lavonn Nelson, and Shirley Herrick.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Alicia Ahlgrim, Aricka Tozer, Ryan Seales, Sarah Brown; and seven great grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Larry Harland; and sisters, Elaine Hunter, and Maxine Bilotti.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Monday, December 30th, at Assaria Lutheran Church in Assaria, Kansas.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Assaria Lutheran Cemetery.
