
Sally J. Enfield, formerly of Hutchinson and Kansas City, passed away at her home in Salina, Kansas on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, one day short of her birthday. She was born Oct. 28, 1947 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Charlie Franklin and Katharine Buena Vista (Ebersoie) Enfield. Sally graduated in 1965 from Hutchinson High School, in 1967 from Hutchinson Community College, and in 1969 from K-State. She also attended Fort Hays University, University of Kansas, University of Missouri and Nazarene Theological Seminary. She worked for both the Hutchinson News and Olathe News. She taught journalism for one year at Pratt High School. She also worked for Hallmark, AT&T, and Sprint. Sally owned the Enfield Allstate Insurance and Financial Services in Overland Park and later moved the office to Salina. She left Allstate when she became the caregiver for her mother.
While in high school Sally attended Girls State and National Girl Scout Camp. As a Girl Scout she earned the God and Community Award. She was raised in and belonged to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hutchinson and attended in Kansas City.
Hospice of Salina tended to Sally at her home during the last weeks of her two-year fight with cancer and two rare auto-immune diseases.
She is survived by her two sisters: Janet Enfield, Salina and Joyce Morris, Arkansas City- She is also survived by nephews: Randy (Debbie) Wilson, Arkansas City, and Charlie Ill (Sondra) Enfield, Hutchinson; and nieces, Janis (Kevin) Hickman, Kansas City; Kaye Richmond, Hutchinson; Kimberly Carnes, Colorado; and Mary (Greg) Lay, Florida. Preceding her in death are her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Beverly Enfield; niece, Diana May; nephews, Michael Enfield and Dwight Wilson; and two great nieces, Jill May and Giny May.
Cremation has taken place. Sally requested there not be a funeral. Burial will be at a later date in Hutchinson's Memorial Park Cemetery where she will be buried beside her mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th Street, Salina, Kansas, 67401, who is handling the arrangements.
