A Beloit man was injured when a gust of wind caused his tractor-trailer rig to overturn on Interstate 70 east of Salina early Thursday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2017 Freightliner pulling a 2015 Utility brand trailer was eastbound in the right hand lane of I-70, when a strong gust of wind pushed the Freightliner toward the south, causing the tractor-trailer rig to overturn onto it's passenger side. The accident occurred at 12:40 p.m. Thursday approximately two miles east of the I-70 N. Ohio Street exit for Salina.
The driver of the tractor-trailer rig, Curtis L. Musgrove, 62, of Beloit, complained of pain and was transported to Salina Regional Health Center, the Kansas Highway Patrol report noted.
According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds in the Salina area were gusting to approximately 48 miles per hour at the time of the accident.
