Agenda items

Commissioners are scheduled to consider three proposed changes to the proposed 2023 budget that was presented to them on July 12. Those proposed changes include the following, according to information in the commission meeting packet.

●Recommended expenditures in the General Fund have increased from

$25,876,412 to $25,882,912, a difference of $6,500 in appropriations to reflect an increase in proposed funding for the Salina Recycling Center.

●Anticipated property tax revenues in the Special Road Construction and Special Bridge Construction Funds have been decreased to reflect keeping these levies at one mill and two mills, respectively.

●Per the advice of the county’s outside auditor, the Jail Sales Tax fund has been switched from a non-budgeted fund to a budgeted fund. This increases the total county budget by $4,445,144, which reflects the planned transfer from this fund to the Bond & Interest Fund.

The next step will be the budget hearing on Aug. 23.

Other items on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday include the following.

●Consider awarding a bid for electrical upgrades for Barns 3 and 5 at the livestock and expo center.

●Hear an update and consider proposed changes for the county's American Rescue Plan Act funding.

●Hear a Planning and Zoning update.
