Coyote Men’s Tennis team beats Bethany 4-3

LINDSBORG - Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis returned to Salina from the Lindquist Tennis Center with a 4-3 win over the Bethany Swedes on Tuesday in the Kansas Conference opener for the Coyotes.

The Coyotes would open things up winning the doubles point, taking two of the three matches. Adam Hanson and Luke Craft beat Francisco Bravo and Martin Priban 7-5; and Jacob Phelps and Gavin Chavez beat Alexjandro Rico Moran and Carlos Rodrigues Rivas 6-4. Raul Davalos-Gavino and Paul Jittawait would lose to Zeke Mumford and Dylan Gwilt 6-3.

In singles, the teams split 3-3, but the Coyotes would walk away with the overall match win.

KWU got wins as Adam Hanson beat Priban 7-5, 2-6, 6-4; Craft beat Mumford 3-6, 6-0, 6-4; and Jacob Phelps would beat Gwilt 6-2, 6-1. Bethany got wins as Bravo beat Davalos-Gavino 4-6, 6-0, 6-2; Daniel Lozano beat William McMurry 6-4, 2-6, 10-7; and Pedro Melo beat Jittawait when he retired in the second set.
