NWS found 2 areas of tornado damage in central-Kansas

RUSSELL COUNTY —The National Weather Service damage survey team found two areas of tornado damage across central Kansas from Sunday's storms.

According to the National Weather Service, the first tornado rated EF1 with maximum winds of 98mph. It was on the ground northwest of Russell from 3:32 to 3:42p.m. and traveled 1.7 miles. A majority of the damage was to numerous power poles.

The second tornado was northeast of Wilson. It also rated EF1 with maximum winds of 100mph. It was on the ground from 4:20 to 4:25p.m. and traveled approximately a quarter of a mile. The winds flipped a pivot system north and south of I-70, according to the National Weather Service.

There were no injuries reported.
