North Salina Community Development
The October 3rd North Salina tire collection at the vacant lot next to the Dairy Queen on N. 9th Street was a success again this year.
We had 16 volunteers donating 88.6 hours of their time to help unload and stack tires of all sizes.
Approximate total number of tires collected = 3,555. Total number of loads dropped off = 219.
40% of the tires came from Saline County, from 34% of the 219 loads that were disposed of. The total number included 50 tires that had been dumped and left in ditches that a county resident had collected, then brought to the event.
The tires will be recycled into outdoor furniture by Champlin Tire of Concordia, which filled four semi-trailers.
A big thank you Farm Bureau, DSA, and to all the volunteers helping out North Salina Community Development and sprucing up Salina and Saline County!
