A local man was arrested in Salina on Saturday for allegedly stalking a Salina woman, slashing the tires on her vehicle, and throwing a wrench through a window of her home.

According to Salina Police Sergeant Kyle Tonniges, at approximately 7:08 a.m. on Friday, Salina Officers were sent to the 1800 block of Highland Avenue to report of possible damage to a vehicle. When officers arrived they spoke with a 52-year-old woman of Salina who showed officers that the driver's side tires of her 2019 Ford Edge were slashed.

"She suspected it was her ex-boyfriend," Tonniges said. "His name is Matthew Boyer, 44-year-old of Salina."

On Saturday at 6:50 a.m. , Officers were sent to the same residence on Highland Avenue for another report of damage to property.

"The victim [ the 52-year-old woman] said she heard a loud crash in her living room and when she looked out there, she saw that somebody had thrown a large wrench through her big bay window," Tonniges said.

The victim also showed officers text messages sent to her from Boyer which contained harassing language. Tonniges said later on that same day, officers were able to locate a Silver Dodge Ram pickup truck belonging to Boyer in the 1600 block of W. Magnolia.

Tonniges said Boyer was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.

Boyer was arrested on the following requested charges, Tonniges said.

●  DUI
●  felony damage to property
●  misdemeanor damage to property
●  stalking
●  harassment by phone
