Warren Ervin McConnell, 89, Salina, passed away on July 8, 2024, at Salina Regional Health Center with his family by his side. He was born on November 9, 1934, in Haileyville, Oklahoma to William Warren McConnell and Zelma (Allen) McConnell. His stepmother was Neva (Walford) McConnell.
He married Patricia Ann Bahr on October 6, 1959.He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was honorably discharged with the rank of “Sergeant”. He was a police officer for the City of Hoisington for 13 years as a Captain. He was a postal worker for 38 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was Grand Knight & District Deputy. He was a volunteer for the Hoisington Fire Department for over 25 years. He was a Hunter Safety Instructor for 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother; wife, Patricia McConnell; half-brothers; Warren Lee, Samuel, Kenneth McConnell, and Harley English and brother-in-law; Tom Call.
Survivors include children, Edwinda (Wayne) Day, Weldon (Karla) McConnell, Jan (Jody) Pfannenstiel, and Renee (Scott) Suppes; seven grandchildren, Miranda Flores, Kristen Flores and Erica (Robert) Harford, Dr. Sarah (Nate) Thomas, Nathan McConnell, Lauren Suppes and MaKayla Suppes; sisters-in-law, Luella Call, Rita Bahr, Jenelda Moore, and Frances Dietz; great-grandchildren, Dakotah and Colton Harlin, John, Matthew, Kallie, Lucas and Brook Harford; half-brothers and half- sisters, Paula Shelly, Frances, Forest and Kathy English and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hoisington, celebrated by Father Warren Stecklein. Knights of Columbus rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery following the ceremony.
