Saline County authorities investigating abandoned, damaged and burned car

Saline County authorities are investigating a possible theft of a vehicle, after discovering the car had been abandoned, damaged and burned.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office on Monday, August 4th, the sheriff's office received a call about an abandoned vehicle parked in the middle of the road with its door open on the 4500 block of E. North St.

Deputies arrived to the scene and found a 2016 Hyundai Sonata with damage to the windshield and a burnt interior.

Deputies contacted the owner of the vehicle, and the owner stated they lent the car over to a friend. Authorities then contacted the friend and stated they arrived to a home they were visiting on Riverside Dr. in Salina.

Moreover, the friend said they left the car running in the street outside of the home they were visiting. When they came back outside, the car was gone.

The Sheriff's Office stated the car appeared to have been stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
