UPDATE: NWS issues winter weather advisories for counties in our area

UPDATE 4 p.m. Sunday: The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until midnight for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Snow and sleet accumulations of one to two inches are possible.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

On Saturday, the area was in a red flag warning for grassland fire danger. Today we have a winter weather advisory.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until midnight for the the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Wintry mix including sleet, freezing rain, and snow is expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of up to three inches with locally higher amounts possible from Harper to Reno to Marion counties and points west. A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow is anticipated along and either side of the Kansas Turnpike corridor, where snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch are possible, and ice accumulations up to around one-tenth of an inch on elevated surfaces.

Moderate to heavy sleet and snow could reduce visibilities down to less than a mile at times. Plan on possible slippery road conditions.
