WICHITA – After giving up a large early lead, the Wind Surge fail to rally and drop Saturday’s game from Riverfront Stadium, losing 10-3 to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Starting pitcher Chris Vallimont was knocked around early by the Naturals, including five in the third. Vallimont finished his day with two and a third innings pitched, allowing seven runs, nine hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. Evan Sisk would come on in relief of Vallimont, posting a very solid outing. The big lefty went two and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs on only a hit and a walk, striking out two.
In the first D.J. Burt would hit a towering homerun to left center, a ball that traveled 441 feet and 101 mph off the bat. It was Burt’s second homerun of the year for the Surge. Burt would finish the night 2-3, extending his six-game hitting streak. Trey Cabbage would also go 3-4 on the night with three singles and a run scored, and Spencer Steer would go 2-3 with a double, single, and a walk.
Hector Lujan would follow Sisk, tossing two complete innings and allowing one run on four hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. Erik Manoah Jr. and Mitchell Osnowitz would be the fourth and fifth men on the bump for the Surge, each tossing a scoreless inning. Manoah Jr. gave up a hit and struck out one, while Osnowitz would allow a hit and strike out two in the ninth.
