Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer used a five-goal first half to roll past the Bethel Threshers 6-0 in Wednesday's Kansas Conference opener at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
The Coyotes got three goals in less than two minutes to take the early commanding lead.
The barrage started in the 15th minute as Grace Murphy scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Carstyn Anderson to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead.
A minute and 25 seconds later, the Coyotes scored again as Victoria Poon scored off an assist by Murphy to make it 2-0. Less than 30 seconds later, the Coyotes were in the net again as Brooklyn Velotta scored to make it 3-0.
Talia Walsh added a goal in the 38th minute off a pass from Jamie Orzel and in the 41st Rylie Moreno-Rojas netted the fifth of the half off Walsh's assist.
The Coyotes added another late goal in the 86th as America Lopez scored off a long shot from 30 yards out off a double assist by Emma Isom and Ashlynn Adcock to make it 6-0.
Wesleyan took chances often in the match, outshooting Bethel 30-2.
Velotta led the Coyotes with five shots, while Wendy Zamudio had four. Bianka Waxman recorded the clean sheet in goal for the Coyotes without a save as both of Bethel's shots were well off target.
