Alan David Conwell
July 4, 1954 ~ January 18, 2024

Alan David Conwell, 69, passed away on January 18, 2024, at Salina Reginal Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He was born to Gene Conwell and LaVon (Williams) Conwell in Newton, Kansas on July 4, 1954. He graduated from Newton High School in 1972. Alan and Jana Rowe were married on August 14, 1976 in Newton. To this marriage a daughter, Alison Beth was born October 12, 1983.

In 1979, Alan received his dual associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology and Land Surveying from Kansas State University, Salina (Formerly Kansas Technical Institute) He worked as Chief Draftsman for PKM Steel services for 15 years. In 1995, Alan, along with three business partners started their own company – Steel Structures Inc. He retired from Steel Structures in 2021.

Alan was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Salina, where he was a choir member, part-time choir director, and congregational song leader. Alan also taught Sunday school classes for both adults and children. Alan was a man of few words, but he lived his faith through his actions of care and compassion for others.

Alan was proceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Jack and Ilene Rowe, and sister-in-law Jill Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years Jana, daughter Alison Beth of McPherson, brother Robin and wife Anna of Franktown, Colorado, brothers in-law Rick Rowe and wife Candy and Mike Pierce, stepmother Carolyn Conwell, stepbrother Ryan Chatfield, Uncles Rodney Williams, Darroll Williams and wife Kay, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alan lived the last 3 years of his life with his usual caring and calm spirit even though he was battling frontotemporal lobe dementia (FTD).

Celebration of life service will be held Thursday January 25, 2024, at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church 843 Lewis Ave. Salina, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Salina, Gentiva Hospice, or the Salina Rescue Mission.
