T-Bird men's cross country takes 5th at 2022 NJCAA Region VI

HUTCHINSON – With five personal-best times among individuals, the Cloud County Community College men's cross country team would post a total of 156 points to take fifth place at the 2022 NJCAA Region VI Cross Country Championships held at Fun Valley Sports Complex in Hutchinson on Friday.

Winning the meet with a total of 23 total points would be NJCAA Division I top-ranked Colby Community College with 23 total points while fifth-ranked Northwest Kansas Tech would finish with a total of 56 to finish as runner-up in a 14-team field. Rounding out the top three in the team scoring would be Butler Community College with a total of 78 total points.

The top-finishing runner for CCCC with a time of 26:20.33 would be sophomore Kidus Misgina who placed 19th while the first personal best time for the T-Birds would come courtesy of Rylan Cheney who placed 24th in a time of 27:06.19. Following Cheney would be Raziel Patton in 35th with a time of 28:05.40 while Andres Young (49th, 29:04.25) and Cejay Morrison (51st, 29:15.02) would be post personal-best times in Friday's 8,000-meter race. Also running personal best times would be Sam Pinkerton who finished in 62nd (29:49.69) and Quwayne Reid in 76th, (30:50.41) to round out the seven runners that Cloud County would have compete on Friday.

What's Next?
One final competition on the 2022 season awaits Cloud County as the T-Birds will next be in action on Saturday, November 12th to compete in the 2022 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. This year's Championship meet will be held at Apalachee Regional Park with the men's 8,000-meter race set to get underway at 12 PM (Eastern Standard Time).
