After dispatching a fellow area school in Ell-Saline in a 51-38 victory on Tuesday, the Sacred Heart girls basketball team will shift their focus to the sub-state semis, where they will square off with the 1-seed in Hillsboro on Friday night.
The Lady Knights come into this contest at 12-9 while the hosting Lady Trojans enter at 17-3, still ranked as the #3 team in Class 2A after knocking off Northern Heights 56-15 in the quarterfinals.
Defeating a sub-state host on their home floor is never easy, but the caliber of this year's Hillsboro team will add an even higher degree of difficulty for a Sacred Heart squad that welcomes the road ahead.
“We are excited to advance to round two," Lady Knights coach Carl Hines said. "Hillsboro is very well-coached and they play extremely hard. Playing in Hillsboro adds to the challenge and we will have to play our best game to have a chance on Friday.”
The winner of this game will advance to the bracket finals on Saturday to battle either the 2-seed in Bennington (16-5) or the 3-seed in Chase County (14-7) at 7:00.
Tip-off between the Lady Knights and Trojans is scheduled for 7:30 at Hillsboro High School.
