A local man was arrested after a pursuit through southwestern Salina Sunday afternoon.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning that an officer attempted to stop a silver 2004 Chevrolet Venture in the 1000 block of W. Cloud Street after it failed to use a turn signal. A pursuit began and went through much of southwestern Salina. The pursuit eventually went west on W. Magnolia Road and then south on Interstate 135, with speeds reaching in excess of 90 mph, Forrester said.

The minivan exited I-135 at W. Schilling Road. The driver, identified as Alvaro Escobedo-Gomez, 42, Salina, eventually abandoned the minivan in the roadway in front of a residence in the 3200 block of Canterbury Drive. He then entered the residence, but was apprehended by police.
The incident started at approximately 3:10 p.m. Sunday.
Escobedo-Gomez was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.
●Flee and elude
●Felony interference with law enforcement officers
●Driving without a license
●No proof of insurance
●Numerous traffic violations
