OPENING STATEMENT: “Alright really the only two people that didn’t practice today were (Nick) Bolton and Watson – Jaylen Watson. He has a shoulder strain. We’ll just see. Most likely he’ll be out along with Bolton. (We) look forward to the challenge of playing the Jets. The guys have had a good week of practice, and they understand the talent on that football team. So, they really worked hard to get themselves ready. Anyways, with that, time’s yours.”
Q: Do you expect even more from Drue Tranquill with him presumably stepping in as the green dot again?
REID: “Yeah, so he did good last week. You know he’s been doing it a while, so you’re going to get a good day’s work and see how things fall. He works extremely hard at his job, and you know I think every snap he gets he becomes more familiar with it.”
Q: We asked Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo about how he felt about not getting the matchup of Jets QB Aaron Rodgers vs. Patrick Mahomes – from a football fan perspective. Do you have any thoughts on that?
REID: “Well listen, I’m a big (Jets QB) Aaron Rodgers fan, but I like the kid (Jets QB Zach Wilson) that they have. And I know Aaron’s been helping out with him, so we tried to work hard at making sure we got that part taken care of so that’s where I’m at. I haven’t really thought about the other part of that as we try to get ready for the guys that are there right now.”
Q: Are you thinking Noah Gray will be good to go this weekend?
REID: “Yeah, he’ll be able to go. He practiced today, yeah.”
Q: With the way the offense played last week, Patrick Mahomes has said that the run game helps with the zone defense. Do you foresee even more of that in the future to try to get more of that involved in the game?
REID: “Yeah, you know we try to do what’s best as things go. You know we always have runs built in there so it’s not all passes, and we understand the importance of it. So they’ll be mixed in there again. We’ll just see how things go.”
Q: You’ve had a lot of new Chiefs fans pop up this week. What’s your message to them?
REID: “Yeah, it’s a great venue (GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium), and we appreciate everything. That’s a good thing. That’s about what I’ll give you.”
