Sonia Seehafer, Lincoln, Nebraska

Sonia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. On Sunday, May 2, 2021 she passed away surrounded by family and friends.
She was born to Everett and Virginia Balthazor on March 21, 1938. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1956. To this day she remained in close contact with her classmates.
Sonia was married to Mervin Seehafer on January 29, 1957. Together they had two children Mary and Paul. After they were married they ran the Seehafer Café in Hunter, KS. Then they moved to Beloit, KS where she worked at the Beloit Youth Center for Girls. While working there she earned her dietary manager certificate. After both her children were grown and married, Sonia and her husband moved to Salina, KS to be closer to her family.
She loved baking and making delicious goodies for her family. Her kitchen was always full of homemade cinnamon rolls, lemon bars and of course her famous bierocks. You never went hungry at grandma's house.
Sonia was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, brother Steve Balthazor and son Paul Seehafer- wife Tammy resides in Kansas City, KS.
She is survived by her sister Gayle (Randy) Halfide, brothers Roland (Susie) and Gary (Marilyn) Balthazor; daughter Mary Southworth, eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and loved all her nieces and nephews dearly.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 13 at St. John's Catholic Church followed by burial in Round Springs Cemetery near Hunter. A rosary service will be at 9 a.m. at the church. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sisters of St. Joseph - Concordia.
