Eleanor Marie Dunshie, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at her home in Concordia, Kansas surrounded by her family.

Eleanor was born on August 25, 1932 in Shinglehouse, PA to Chester “Chet” & Nellie (Buchanan) Lunn.

Eleanor married Frederic Lee Dunshie in Shinglehouse, PA on January 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2020.

She graduated from Shinglehouse High School in 1951.

Eleanor was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother, who moved from Wellsville, NY to Marion, NC, Concordia, KS and Abilene, KS while supporting Fred’s work with Air Preheater & Combustion Engineering.

In retirement, they moved to Lawrence, Kansas for 2 years and then returned to Concordia, to be closer to family.  She loved watching and caring for her many grandchildren.

Eleanor was most happy keeping house, cooking, cleaning, baking cookies (sugar cookies)! She was always ready for friends and family to visit and was a life example for us all.

She was a former member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Concordia, Kansas where she served on the Altar Guild.  She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and lifetime Girl Scout Leader.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Colleen Dunshie-Christenson, Deanna (Jim) Conn, both of Concordia, Kansas and son, Timothy (Melinda) Dunshie, Salina, Kansas; son in law, Eric Harper, Topeka, Kansas; sister in law, Itha Poeltl, Williamsville, New York; grandchildren, Kristen Smith, Brandon Christenson, Anna Moore, Melissa Conn, Amanda Conn, Erica Harper, Kaley Nelson, Hunter, Autumn & Jesse Dunshie; great-grandchildren, Ethan Conn, Xavier, Alexis, Taghen & Treyton Christenson, Kyler & Kinsley Nelson, Trevin Christenson-Mason, Weslee Moore, Luke, Henry & Eleanora Christenson; many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by a son, Frederic “Freddie” Lee Dunshie, Jr.; daughter, Teresa Harper; parents, Chester & Nellie, a sister, Marion Crandall; step grandson, Aaron Begnoche.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Pastor Bob Burns officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Chaput-Buoy Funeral home.  Cremation will follow the services and Fred and Eleanor will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, NY at a later date.
