LINDSBORG - The Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum has expanded its board of directors, adding four new members in December.
The Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum celebrates the pioneering spirit of those who first settled or live today in the Smoky Valley area.
Founding board members are President Leslie Sperling, outgoing Vice President Britt Colle, Secretary/Treasurer Dr. Anna Hultquist Erickson, longtime local Kirsten Bruce, and outgoing member and Inman Mayor Jim Toews. These leaders assumed ownership and management of the newly reorganized historical, 15-acre attraction in August 2021, according to information from the organization.
Newer board members who took office in December include Collin Carlson. Michael Chambers, Rick Martin, and Rachel Norlin.
Carlson is a native of Olathe who lives in Lindsborg and has taught social studies and history at Salina South High School. He holds degrees from Bethany College and Pittsburg State University.
Chambers is executive director of the Salina Education Foundation and is a native of Lindsborg who lives in Salina. He previously served as executive director of the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank and has years of non-profit management experience.
Martin has worked in park management for 43 years with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and currently for the City of Salina. He has served as the Lindsborg City Council president for approximately 20 years.
Norlin is owner and principal designer of Please +Thanks, a personal stationery and gift company. She is a native of Lindsborg who loves camping and hiking with her dog, Rudy.
Additionally, the organization announced that various board, committee, sponsor, and volunteer opportunities to support the work of the museum complex will become available in the next 12 to 18 months, as the board and staff work to craft and implement a strategic plan.
