The SES Lady Trojans fell to the state-ranked TMP Lady Monarchs earlier today by a final score of 39-36.

Southeast led by double digits early in the second half but a late 9-0 run by TMP proved too much to overcome down the stretch.

This is the first loss for SES since January 21st and the now 12-6 Trojans last three losses have all been at the hands of ranked opponents.

“When we had to reschedule we were looking for a competitive game,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said. “We didn’t want to play someone that we could beat by 30, we needed a chance to beat a really good team.”

Southeast got their wish as the size and three point shooting ability of TMP was on full display this afternoon.

Emilee Lane, a six foot forward, gave the Lady Trojans some trouble, dropping 19 points in the win.

“We knew that they were going to go inside and I thought we did a great job of defending but they’re just taller than us and we couldn’t counter,” Smith said.

On the Southeast side Karsyn Schlesener and Alaina Yianakopulos led the way with 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Lady Trojans will be back in action on Monday when SES welcomes 11-6 Ellinwood to town.
