UPDATE: Saline County warning canceled

UPDATE 7:49 p.m. Tuesday: The severe thunderstorm warning for Saline County has been canceled.

UPDATE 7:03 p.m. Tuesday: Ellsworth and McPherson counties have been cleared from the warning.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has now issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 8 p.m. for Saline County.

At 7:03 p.m. CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Brookville, or 11 miles southwest of Salina, moving northeast at 25 mph. 60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail are expected.

Locations impacted include Salina, Assaria, Gypsum, Brookville, Smolan, New Cambria, Falun, Glendale, Bridgeport, Salina Airport, and Kipp.  This includes the following highways: Interstate 135 between mile markers 77 and 95 and Interstate 70 between mile markers 236 and 266.

Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 7:15 p.m. Tuesday for the following counties in our area.

Northwestern McPherson County

Eastern Ellsworth County

Southwestern Saline County

This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 217 and 228, and between mile markers 236 and 245.

At 6:25 p.m. CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Kanopolis, moving east-northeast at 25 mph. 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail are expected.

Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
