Winter storm warnings
A winter storm warning is in effect until noon Thursday for the following counties in our area.
Clay County
Cloud County
Republic County
Heavy snow and strong winds are expected, with total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will cause near-blizzard conditions and drifting snow.
Travel is expected to become very difficult. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Snow drifts may make roads impassable. These hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Thursday morning commute as well.
Any travel tonight and Thursday morning is strongly discouraged. If you leave the safety of being indoors, you are putting your life at risk. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches and locally higher amounts possible across north-central Kansas and near the Nebraska-Kansas state line. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph are forecast.
Snowfall is expected to begin across the area during the early afternoon hours, with the highest accumulations expected between 6 p.m. Wednesday evening through 6 a.m. Thursday. Hazardous travel is expected.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph are forecast. Wind chills will be around zero to 5 below zero Thursday morning.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy, blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
