On Monday, Nov. 13, at 6:44 p.m., Salina Police Department officers reported to the 1500 block of Highland Avenue, where a victim reported their tan 2016 Toyota Tacoma truck, valued at $20,299, stolen.
SPD Sergeant Kyle Tonniges said someone stole the vehicle sometime after 3 p.m. on Monday.
"The vehicle was left unlocked with a key fob inside," Tonniges said. "The driver had no suspects at the time."
Later, around 11 p.m. that night, an SPD officer saw a suspect driving the tan truck at the intersection of Santa Fe and Pacific Avenues.
The suspect evaded the officer until the 800 block of North Second Street, where it sat abandoned in the middle of the roadway.
According to Tonniges, SPD officers did not locate the suspect.
