Agenda items

Commissioners are scheduled to consider a proposal to amend a zoning ordinance to allow for permanent structures to be used for fireworks sales.

In his request for action, Tim Hamilton, planning and zoning administrator, noted that while the Saline County Planning Commission is not responsible for interpreting the county's fireworks resolution, Chapter 13 of the county zoning ordinance addresses fireworks stands as a permitted temporary use in all districts.

Hamilton noted that the planning commission considered whether to allow in the county the establishment of permanent and/or enclosed structures as locations for fireworks sales during the period such activity is allowed by the county fireworks resolution.

Other items on the county commission agenda for Tuesday include the following.

●Observe a presentation of the Outstanding New Emergency Management Professional of the Year Award by Butch Post, Kansas Emergency Management Association president.

●Consider an agreement with GovBuilt for a new county website.

Commissioners also are scheduled to meet in executive session for attorney-client privilege.
