
Nancy Arlene Higbee, 86, passed away on May 16, 2025 at Republic County Hospital. She was born on January 8, 1939 to Francis and Vera (Logan) Reed.
Nancy grew up in Formoso, Kansas, and graduated from Formoso High School in 1957. She participated in basketball, music, and running.
She was a dedicated member and lifelong attendee of the Formoso Community Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Nancy married Jackie Loy Higbee at the Formoso Community Church on August 9, 1959. This union brought three children, Michael Lynn, Jeannea Loy, and Christel Dawn.
She was a very active member of her community, she was a member of the Formoso Athena Club, a 4-H leader, and an Auxiliary member. She enjoyed gardening, making doll dresses, and collecting antiques. She loved helping her children in all the activities that they were involved in. She would help her husband on the farm with preparing meals to take to the field. Would run a truck when needed, and moving Jack from field to field. She loved it when her grandchildren would come to visit her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her son, Michael, her granddaughter, Kassidy, and son-in-law, Jeremie.
She will be missed by her daughters, Jeannea Thomas, of Osborne, Kansas, and Christel Pierce and Kyle of Mankato, KS; Granddaughters, McCaela Nelson, Cheyenne Nelson, Mabel Nelson and Jackie Nelson; also her 7 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Balch Cemetery in Formoso, Kansas, with Jake Englebert officiating.
