 July 30, 1918 - October 12, 2021

Mary Louise Doidge, 103, of Solomon passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was born July 30, 1918 in Solomon, the daughter of R.N. and Llewellyn (Simmons) Scott.

She attended Solomon schools graduating in 1936. She was a loyal member of the alumni association, serving as secretary for many years. Mary Louise worked as assistant librarian in the Solomon school system for 24 years.

On September 3, 1936 she was united in marriage to M.H. (Bill) Fair. To this union she had three sons, Warren, Walter (Lola) and Russell.

M.H. preceded her in death November 24, 1965. She later married Ernest Doidge on January 4, 1979 and they enjoyed life until he passed September 22, 1998.

She was a member of the Solomon Yoked Parish, Presbyterian Women and the Shuffling Sunflower Card Club. She loved to dance, play cards, read and to be with family and friends. She loved to celebrate and she celebrated her 100th birthday with a big party.

Mary Louise is survived by her three sons, Warren, Salina, KS, Walter and wife Lola, Salina, KS and Russ, Solomon, KS; grandchildren Billy Fair, Seattle, WA, Bobby Fair, Hawaii and Sean (Kristi) Pike, Salina, KS; two great-grandchildren, Ivan and Alyssa Pike, Salina, KS and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her special exchange student, Irmi Ruhstorfer, Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Bill Fair and Ernest Doidge; three sisters, Helen Glassen, Gladys Scott and Ethel Miller; and brother, Earl Scott.

Funeral services for Mary Louise will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Solomon Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday evening 6-8 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon.

Family suggests memorials be given to the Hospice of Dickinson County or the SHS Mary Louise Fair Doidge Scholarship.
