Salina Police arrest male for threatening and slashing tire of convenience store clerk

Male suspect threatens and slashes tire of a convenience store clerk, before arrest.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Saturday at around 7:00 pm, officers were dispatched to Pump Mart (1118 N 9th St.) for the report someone who made a threat to an employee.

Reportedly, a man identified as 46-year old, Walter Cook went inside the store, grabbed two packs of cigarettes and tried to leave without paying.

A male employee then stopped him from leaving, advising Cook he needed to pay for them. Cook then became upset and threatened the employee, stating he was going to "shoot him." 

SPD stated, the employee and Cook are acquainted.

Subsequently, Cook left the store and slashed a tire of the employee's vehicle. 

When officers arrived, they found Cook a couple blocks away from the store and arrested him without incident. He was booked into the Saline County Jail for the requested charges of:

Criminal Threat and Damage to Property.
