The Southeast of Saline Trojans (4-5) will face the Kingman Eagles (1-6) in the consolation bracket of the Sterling Invitational today at 4pm.
The Trojans fell in the final second last night to Hutch Trinity while the Eagles were unable to fend off top seeded Lyons in their contest.
“We showed some resilience in being able to fight back last night and I was proud of that,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “But we hurt ourselves by not taking one extra step. Our help defense wasn’t as good as it needs to be and it showed. If we want to be a good team we need to clean that up.”
While the wins haven’t come for Kingman this season, they play deep into their bench and kept things very close against a state ranked Lyons team late into the fourth quarter yesterday.
“Kingman is a lot better than their 1-6 record,” Flax said. “They hung around with Lyons last night and they play really hard and really well together. We’ve got to show some toughness tonight which is something we’ve struggled with throughout the season.”
Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. this afternoon from Sterling College. The winner of this game will advance to the consolation final on Friday while the loser will play for seventh place.
