Dwaine Sever Chinander

On October 1, 2020, Dwaine Sever Chinander, passed away at the age of 70. He was born on January 18, 1950 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Ruth (Rall) and Sever Brevick whom later divorced. In 1956, Ruth married Robert Chinander. In 1964, Robert Chinander adopted Dwaine. 

In 1969, Dwaine graduated from White Sulphur Spring High School in Montana. While in high school he worked as a ranch hand for local ranchers and V.K.V. Lumber Company. After high school he enjoyed trucking cattle, grain, and hay. He maintained a CDL until he retired and was always willing to haul a load. 

In 1970, Dwaine entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Aircraft Mechanic in the Vietnam War. In 1976, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and was very proud of being a Seabee. In 1981, he enlisted with the United States Naval Reserve Center Las Vegas and served six years. 

Dwaine spent the 1980’s being a proud provider and cared deeply for Tona (wife) and helped raise Mike, Ronda, and Barb (Tonia’s children). They resided in Las Vegas where he worked as a heavy diesel mechanic and welder. In 1989, Dwaine and Tonia divorced but remained lifetime friends. 

Dwaine remained in Las Vegas and continued working as a heavy diesel mechanic and welder until in 2010, when he relocated to Beloit, Kansas to be closer to Kathryn Sage (sister). He spent countless hours during the last decade sharing stories with Joe & Christine Witt (niece) & Elizabeth and Victoria Witt (great nieces). He enjoyed visiting with his nephews and their families: Kevin & Sheena Sage (nephew) and Gian Ramon Bacaron (great nephew) and Wellington & Megan Sage (nephew) & Elliot and Isaiah (great nephews).

Dwaine never met a stranger and enjoyed sharing stories. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was always willing to help. 

Dwaine was preceded in death by Sever Brevick and Ruth & Robert Chinander. 

Dwaine left behind many to celebrate his life including sisters- Lucille (Bill) Zuidema & Kathryn Sage; lifetime friends-Tona & Buckey; Nieces-Jeannie Zuidema, Marianna (Donald) Loose, Linda (Chad) Cline & Christine (Joe) Witt; nephews- John (Lori) Zuidema, Dwight (Dawn) Sage, Kevin (Sheena) Sage, Wellington (Megan) Sage; great nieces- Elizabeth & Tori Witt plus many more; great nephews-Gian Ramon Bacaron, Elliot & Isaiah Sage plus many more.

A memorial service will take place at Rose Valley Cemetery on Friday, October 16th at 2 p. m.
