Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Quotes

December 5, 2025

OPENING STATEMENT: “As far as the injuries go, (Chris) Roland-Wallace will end up being listed as out and then we’re just waiting to see on the days here with Trey Smith and Jawaan Taylor, but they are making progress, which is a positive. Look forward to the challenge of playing the Texans. Good football team. Guys have had a good week of practice so, again we always look forward to playing at home at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. With that, time’s yours.”

Q: If Jawaan Taylor is out, have you settled on Jaylon Moore at right tackle and Wanya Morris at left tackle?

REID: “Yeah they’ve (Jaylon Moore and Wanya Morris) actually worked both sides, so we’ll just make that decision when we get there Matt (Derrick).”

Q: How realistic is it for guys that don’t practice to play in a game?

REID: “It’s been done before, yeah. Listen, I think it will be a stretch for them (Trey Smith and Jawaan Taylor) to get there so (if) the other guys play, they play. We have trust in everybody there.”

Q: Who is closer to playing, Trey Smith or Jawaan Taylor?

REID: “Probably Trey (Smith).”

Q: On BYU Head Coach Kalani Sitake signing an extension with BYU.

REID: “I think it’s great. They’ve (BYU Football) got such a good thing going and I know a lot of the people up there and am proud of them for what they’ve done. It’s a great university and they do a whole lot of good for a whole lot of folks, but I’m glad that he’s (Kalani Sitake) staying because he’s one of those guys. A good person, I mean really good person, and he does a heck of job in recruiting and the people up there love him, so I think it’s a real positive.”

Q: How do you think Esa Pole did this week?

REID: “I thought he (Esa Pole) did a good job. He seemed to pick it up – he’s a smart kid, so he was able to pick it up fast and get some reps in there. We’re kind of moving people around a bit, so he jumped in and did some good stuff there.”

Q: Did training camp work with Esa Pole help out?

REID: “Yeah, I think so. Sure. I think his (Esa Pole) retention is good. He’s been away for a while, but I thought he did a nice job there”

Q: On Travis Kelce being nominated for Walter Payton Man of the Year.

REID: “How great is that? Well deserved for a lot of reasons. All of the community work that he (Travis Kelce) does is tremendous, helping people out. He’s always got time for everybody, especially kids and does a great job with his teammates and most of all the community.”

Chiefs Player Quotes

RB ISIAH PACHECO

Q: On the challenge of Houston’s defensive front.

PACHECO: “Absolutely, it’s always a challenge every week. They have a good front over there (Texans) as you can see, coming in hot. Us as a whole, coming in motivated and understanding one play at a time.”

Q: How important is it for you and Kareem Hunt to set the tone in the run game against Houston?

PACHECO: “It’s important. First play of the game (or) whenever it is, every carry matters and playing off of each other’s energy. Bringing that energy is going to be important this game.”

Q: What is the mentality of the team going into this game?

PACHECO: “It’s a challenge. We’re up for a challenge and that’s what it’s all about. Coming out to work and to compete every day. When it’s a competition, it’s fun and it’s what we love doing, competing.”

LB NICK BOLTON

Q: How do you feel the team has practiced this week to face the Texans on Sunday?

BOLTON: “I think we had a good week and focused in on the things we need to do – the intangibles and being good at the things that require a little talent, effort (and) energy and just between the ears kind of where we need to be and stuff like that. But I think we’ve had a great week and give us a chance to go out there and have a good 65-75 plays.”

Q: What have you seen from C.J. Stroud in his return from injury and what do you expect?

BOLTON: “He (Texans QB C.J. Stroud) did a good job trying to get the ball out to his pass catchers out in the space who run the ball very well. He’s doing good job of knowing he can throw the ball, quick rhythm passes, three stepping, getting the ball to his receivers quick and give them a chance to run. So, he’s doing a good job of managing the game in that department.”

Q: What can the team take away from the Cowboys game to improve on?
