Maxine Brose Neill, 101, died June 8, 2021 in Manhattan, KS.  She was born on August 15, 1919 in Clay County, the daughter of Carl and Rena (Siemers) Brose. 

Maxine was a graduate of the Clifton High School class of 1937.  Following high school, she attended cosmetology school in Wichita.  Maxine married Frank Neill on December 27, 1942.  She worked as a beauty operator in Lawrence, Chicago and in Clay Center. Then in 1946, they returned to the family farm southeast of Clay Center.  Frank preceded her in death on May 9, 1995. 

Maxine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon, the As You Are Club, Neighborhood Club, Friendship Club, served on the Presbyterian Manor board and volunteered at the Lighthouse for Christ and the Presbyterian Manor.  She was preceded in death by parents and a sister, Gladys Hammons.

Daughter: Connie and husband Harvey Frigon of Clay Center, KS

Daughter: Kay and husband Terry Kraft of Grand Junction, CO

Son: Jeff Neill and fiancée Anabel Seaman of Lawrence, KS

Sister: Roberta Price of Hutchinson, KS

Eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren

Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, KS

Minister: Rev. Scott Lingle

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas

Visitation: 3-7 p.m. Monday, June 14 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
