Kansas Wesleyan Baseball split its two games on the second day of the Inaugural KWU Baseball Classic on Sunday at Berkley Family Recreation Area.
The Coyotes dropped their first game to Science and Arts of Oklahoma 11-2, then rebounded for a 4-2 win over William Penn.
Against USAO, neither team scored until the bottom of the third inning when Jacob Williamson hit a 2-run homer out to right center after Eric Romero had singled earlier in the inning.
In the top of the fourth, the Coyotes surrendered five runs to USAO falling behind 5-2. '
The Drovers added a homer in the fifth and put the game out of reach in the seventh adding five more runs.
The Coyotes were limited to just three hits in the game. Nathan Galusha took the loss allowing five runs on five hits with five walks.
Wesleyan closed out the Classic on a positive note defeating William Penn.
The Statesmen scored first, getting a run on a muffed throw at first base that allowed two extra bases.
The Coyotes grabbed the lead back in the bottom of the inning. Tyler Favretto tripled, and two batters later, back to back walks to Garrett Garfield and Blake Dale loaded the bases for Eric Romero to unload them with a 3-run double down the line in left.
William Penn got a run back in the second.
The Coyotes got a big insurance run in the bottom of the third as Dale walked and then scored of Drew Wardell's double.
Favretto had three of KWU's six hits in the game, while Romero drove in three runs.
Shaw Lee got the win for the Coyotes allowing two runs, one earned in four innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Ritter Steinmann went three innings for the save, striking out five.
