Two Texas men were arrested after a shots fired incident at a south Salina hotel late Monday night.

Officers were sent to the Rodeway Inn, 3932 S. Ninth Street, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Monday for the report of shots being fired, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning.

A witness, who was outside the hotel, told the officers that a white pickup parked on the south side of the parking lot was involved. The witness said that the pickup pulled into the lot and several shots were fired. The pickup was then parked on the south side of the hotel.

According to Forrester, video surveillance showed two individuals entering the south door of the hotel shortly after the shots were reportedly fired. Officers located five 9mm shell casings in the parking lot, he added.

The pickup described by the witness was registered to a Pedro Lopez, 27, of Texas, Forrester reported. Lopez was associated with a room at the hotel. Officers made contact with Lopez and another man in the room, Edwin Luna, 24, of Texas, Forrester noted.

A search of the room and the vehicle produced evidence related to the shots fired incident.

According to Forrester, the two men were arrested on the following requested charges.

Lopez: Unlawful discharge of a weapon and interference with a law enforcement officer

Luna: Unlawful discharge of a weapon

The case remains under investigation, Forrester noted.
