A man was arrested on a requested charge of aggravated assault after an alleged knife incident Monday afternoon in central Salina.

Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 600 block of East Walnut at approximately 4 p.m. Monday, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. It was reported that Jeffrey McLemore, 35, of Salina, and a 20-year-old man were arguing in the kitchen of the residence, he noted.

During the argument, McLemore allegedly produced a knife from behind his back and swung it toward Finch, Forrester reported. An 18-year-old woman stepped in between the two, causing McLemore to drop the knife, Forrester explained. McLemore then allegedly retrieved the knife and left, he added.

According to Forrester, McLemore was later located at Pacific Avenue and North Ninth Street and arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester explained.
