Salina man accused of threatening doctors at the hospital

SALINA—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged threat at Salina Regional Health Center.

On July 9th The Salina Police Department was contacted by a concerned citizen that reported threats made toward two doctors at Salina Regional Health Center, according to Salina Police Lt. Andrew Zeigler.

The suspect, 61 year old Laif Deaner, was upset with the care of a relative and had made several statements over the course of a couple days pertaining to causing harm to the doctors. These statements referenced killing the doctors.

Police located Deaner in the parking lot of 501 S. Santa Fe, in his personal vehicle, and arrested him on requested charges that include  2 counts of Criminal Threat. Deaner who was not armed at the time of his arrest was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
