Curtis Howard Thompson, 84, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 12.

Curtis was born in Matador, Texas on February 5, 1940, to Lucious Thompson and Bobby Reed.

Curtis became an ordained minister in 1968 and was a Pastor at Zion Baptist Church and Allen Chapel for many years.

Curtis and Claudia Thompson were united in marriage July 5, 1971 and spent many happy years together before her passing in 2004.

In Curtis’s free time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and going on long walks.

Survivors include his daughter, MattieMae Lytle (James); sons, Charles S Thompson, Curtis Howard Thompson Jr.; step sons, Bennie Williams, Michael Williams (Lisa); sisters, Sallie Mae Jackson, Patrica Thompson; brothers, Hurbert Thompson, Robert Nelms; nephews, Don Jeffrey, Tyrone Morris (Lisa), Raymond Jeffrey; and niece, Mary Jackson.

He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Rae Thompson, Lucious Thompson, Johnny Nelms, James Nelms, Stanley Nelms; sisters, Ann Thompson, Doris Thompson Rivers; step daughter, Vickie Douglas; and step son, Donnie Thompson.

Cremation has been chosen and a gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 26th, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
