January 30, 1924 ~ May 17, 2021 (age 97)

Leora’s life began on January 30, 1924 in Herington.  She is the daughter of Charles William and Magdalena Marie Ernestine (Meyer) Albrecht.  Leora is a 1942 graduate of Herington High School.  She was united in marriage to Wiston C. Clore on April 11, 1954 in Herington. 

Leora was a quilt maker and made treasured quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cheering for the KC Royals, Kansas City Chiefs,  Chicago Bulls and the Oklahoma Thunder.  Leora was very independent and would not even use her lift chair when encouraged by her children. 

Her loving family includes her children Joan Blanton of Salina, Alfriedia Herpich of Burdick, Beverly Clore of Moore, OK, Sandra (Rob) Clore-Phillips of Olathe, Rose (Richard) Riddle of Silver Lake, Richard Clore of Abilene, Mary Pfeffer of Herington, Martha (Bruce) Krause of Woodbine, Janet Smith of Gardner, Charles (Elise) Clore of Herington, James Clore of Salina, Calvin Clore of Herington, and Steven Clore of Herington; 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Leora passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wiston, son David Clore, son Wayne Blanton, granddaughter Patricia Smith and siblings Irma, Harvey, Ortie, Herbie, Dora Mae and Roy. 

Her family will gather with friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington.  Leora’s funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Herington led by Pastor Darrell Geist.  She will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. 

Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Good Shepherd Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
