WICHITA, Kan. - LaMyah Ricks and Angel Lee, both of Kansas Wesleyan University, have earned the KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Dec. 2-8 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Offensive Player of the Week
LaMyah Ricks - Kansas Wesleyan University
5-4 | Fifth Year | G | DeSoto, Kan.
Ricks was huge for the Coyotes as KWU knocked off Sterling, who was unbeaten in conference play at the time, and picked up a big road win at Friends, extending KWU's winning streak to seven games. In both games, Ricks was big in helping KWU put together massive fourth-quarter rallies for the wins. Against Sterling, she had 16 points, pulled down four rebounds, had four assists and three steals. Against Friends, she again was huge, leading the way with 20 points, with six rebounds, five assists and three more steals. She averaged 18 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals.
Defensive Player of the Week
Angel Lee - Kansas Wesleyan University
5-8 | Sr. | G | Kansas City, Mo.
Lee had a stellar week on defense for the Coyotes. During the second half of KWU's win over Sterling, Angel Lee guarded Sterling's top scorer, Korynn Clason, and held Clason to just five second-half points on 2 of 7 shooting, with five turnovers. Limiting Clason's chances was a big reason the Coyotes came back and got the win over Sterling. Against Friends, Lee guarded Lauryn McIver. While McIver got 18 points, Lee and the Coyotes turned her into a high volume shooter, forcing her into 17 shots (7 of 17 from the field), as KWU pulled away in the fourth quarter for the win. Lee was also a key offensive player for the Coyotes, scoring 16 points in both games.
