After securing an 11th-straight winning season, the Sacred Heart boys' basketball team will begin their postseason run at home on Monday against the two-time defending 2A champs in Hillsboro.

This 4-5 matchup will see the Knights enter at 11-9 while the visiting Trojans come in at 9-11 having won four of their last five games.

The last time these two met was in the sub-state championship game near the end of the 2019-2020 season when Hillsboro ended Sacred Heart's run with a 61-47 victory.

While this year's Trojan team is a far cry from the one that went back-to-back, the Knights know how dangerous they can be, and how battle-tested most of this roster is.

"Obviously with the success that Hillsboro has had in recent state tournaments, the game tonight has an extra element to it," Sacred Heart head coach Brian Gormley said. "We know that they know how to win and are playing their best basketball at the end of the season. Our players have done their homework and now it’s time to execute and finish."

The winner of this game will move on to the bracket semifinals to square off with either the 1-seed in Chase County (17-3) or the 8-seed in Marion (3-17).

On the other side of the bracket, two more area schools will be in action as Bennington (16-4) hosts Northern Heights (3-17) and Ell-Saline (12-8) entertains Herington (6-14).

Tip-off between the Knights and Trojans is scheduled for 7:00 at Sacred Heart High School in Salina.
