Mamie R. (Mravinec) Huxman

Mamie R. (Mravinec) Huxman, 95, of Russell, Kansas, passed away at the Harry Hynes Hospice in St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Mamie was born June 3, 1929 on the family farm in Osborne County, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Frank and Ruby (Boyd) Mravinec.  She grew up in Osborne County and graduated from Natoma High School in the Class of ’47.  She then attended Ft. Hays State University for a year and a half before getting marriage.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Huxman on April 14, 1950 in Russell.  They made their home in Natoma, before moving to California while Joseph was in the military.

Mamie was a devoted wife and home maker.  She worked as a secretary for North American Aviation for over 23 years.  After Joseph’s retirement, they moved back to Russell in 2004.  Joseph preceded her in death on September 16, 2013.  She attended Bible Baptist Church of Russell.  She had a kind heart and friendly smile for everyone she met.

Mamie’s surviving family include her brother, Larry Mravinec  and wife Lisa of Russell, Kansas; and nephew, Bart Mravinec and wife Denise of Russell, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Celebration of Mamie’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.  A private burial as Ashes will follow at a later time.  A Memorial has been established with Bible Baptist Church.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
