NEW ORLEANS - The Fort Hays State women's track and field team is ranked 23rd in the latest installment of the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Rating, released Monday by the coaches association.
This final release is different than the rest of the regular season rankings in that it only takes into account accepted entries into the national championships, set for this weekend (March 11-13) in Birmingham, Ala.
The women picked up 31.87 points in the computerized poll from its two national entries. Alexandra Hart enters the event as the top-ranked individual in the high jump thanks to her school-record clearance of 5-10.5, earning 25.08 points. Lyric Holman received 6.78 points as the ninth-ranked individual in the 60m dash due to her school-record time of 7.59.
The men's team ranks 35th out of 55 schools with at least one entry. Matthew Pieper enters the national championships ranked sixth in the heptathlon with a school-record total of 5,258 points, good for 10.93 points. Ryan Stanley picked up 9.48 points with his top mark of 16-9.25 in the pole vault, seventh-best in the country.
