Defense would win the day for the Lady Trojans on Tuesday night, who held Lyons to just eight first-half points in a dominant overall effort.

This game was over early, with Southeast on top 19-4 after the first quarter, and 32-8 by the halftime intermission.

Suttyn Douglas led the charge for the Lady Trojans with 13 points, but this game was a team effort with eight different players chipping in at least a bucket.

On the other side of the matchup Lyons was led by Sierra Belote, who was the only Lady Lion to approach double digits with eight points.

With this result, Southeast improves to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in league play extending their four-game win streak while Lyons drops to 1-7 and 0-4 respectively.

Boys: SE of Saline 67, Lyons 59

The boy’s game stayed close until the fourth quarter but when it mattered most, Southeast was able to lock in and pull away for a crucial league victory.

Lyons led at the end of each quarter, taking a 47-45 advantage into the fourth, but the Trojans outscored their foe 22-12 down the stretch, including nine fourth-quarter free throws.

While just five different Trojans scored in this game that proved to be more than enough as three different players finished north of 15 for the game.

Gannon Jacobson led the charge in a 20-point effort, with Owen Bailey adding 17 more and Tiernen Ptacek chipping in a career-high 19 points.

On the other end four different Lions scored in double figures, led by Xavier Solis (15), Tegan Link (13), Paco Espinoza (11), and Deacon Showalter (10).

With this result, the Trojans improve to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in league play while Lyons slides to 3-5 and 1-3.

Both SES teams will be back in action on Friday when they travel to take on Clay Center.
