City of Salina hosting free landfill day in October

The City of Salina will host a Free Landfill Day on Saturday, October 4, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill (4292 S. Burma Rd)

Saline County residents with a county license plate may dispose of residential trash at no cost. Vehicles from outside the county will be charged standard fees. Commercial haulers will receive priority (regular rates apply). 

To prevent littering, all loads must be secured and/or tarped. Unsecured loads will be charged double the normal rate. Customers should expect lines and possible delays, follow staff instructions, obey signage and stay on approved roadways. 

Not accepted: automobiles, batteries, hazardous or toxic waste, corrosive or reactive materials, explosives, flammable waste, liquids (including paint), machinery, storage tanks, and vehicle/equipment wreckage. 

Accepted with standard fees: brick, concrete, rock, aggregates, commercial loads, Freon-containing items (with certification), roofing and construction materials, boats, sheds, trailers, tires, and waste requiring a KDHE Special Waste Permit.

The landfill will close promptly at 2:00 pm No entry will be allowed after closing, even if a line remains.
