A Salina man wanted for aggravated escape from custody was arrested in central Salina early Monday evening.
On Thursday, the Saline County Sheriff's Office issued a news release that Jeremy Thomas Cullen was wanted for aggravated escape from custody. He had last been seen on Feb. 23, 2021, when he walked away from a court ordered drug/alcohol treatment facility in another county. Cullen was believed to be with his girlfriend, Amber Rachelle Cooper, who also had outstanding warrants, the sheriff's office noted in the news release.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning that officers were sent to a residence in the 100 block of E. Wilson Street at 6:45 p.m. Monday after an anonymous tip was received that Cullen, 26, of Salina, and Cooper, 31, of Salina, were inside a basement at the residence. Both subjects had active felony warrants out of Saline County, Sedgwick County, and Reno County, Forrester noted.
The landlord of the residence told police that no one should be in the basement area of the residence. According to Forrester, officers found the exterior cellar doors padlocked from the inside, indicating someone was inside the basement cellar.
Officers made contact with Cullen and Cooper via cellphone and they surrendered without incident. Both were arrested on the multiple warrants, as well as trespassing and narcotics violations, Forrester explained.
