Police arrest Salina man after he accidentally shoots self

A Salina man who accidently shot himself Saturday evening was later arrested on multiple requested weapons charges.

Officers were dispatched to the Village Inn, 453 S. Broadway, at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, for the report of shots fired in the parking lot, Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning.

When they arrived, they encountered Oscar Zamarron, 41, of Salina, who had a gunshot wound on his left wrist. During the investigation, officers determined that Zamarron had accidentally discharged the gun.

Hanus said Zamarron was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center, where he was treated and released.

Officers also discovered that Zamarron was not able to possess a firearm, so he was arrested on the following requested charges, Hanus said.

●Criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

●Criminal use of a weapon

●Unlawful discharge of a firearm

●Disorderly conduct
