On Wednesday, it was announced in a release that pending board approval, Chris Fear would be taking over as head boys' basketball coach at Salina Central High School.
Fear has led the Lady Mustangs for the last eight seasons, finding a great deal of success including a 5A state runner-up finish in 2023, and two final four appearances in four trips to the KSHSAA state tournament.
On the boy's side, the Mustangs are coming off of a disappointing 6-15 campaign, and Fear will be the program's third head coach in as many years, replacing Billy Graf, who stepped in for Ryan Modin before the 2023-24 season.
This will be Fear's third coaching stop in Salina, following a stint as head men's coach at Kansas Wesleyan before taking over the head girls' job at Salina Central, where he holds the title of winningest coach in program history with 125 wins.
Central will have to fill the head girls' coaching position vacated by Fear, and the search in Salina is already underway.
The Salina Post will continue to keep you up to date as the search for a new head girl's coach continues.
