Virtual Salina Art Center Lunch and Learn set for Wednesday

Artist Ghazal Ghazi will be the featured artist during a virtual Salina Art Center Lunch and Learn Wednesday.

The event is scheduled from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday via Zoom and Facebook Live.  Visit the Salina Art Center website to register for Zoom (www.SalinaArtCenter.org/ghazal-ghazi) or tune in on the art center's Facebook page.

Ghazi's exhibition, Forms of Relation is featured through May 21 at the Salina Art Center, 242 S. Santa Fe Avenue. Gallery hours are  11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday;  11 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday; and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.  Admission is free, however, donations are welcome.

Spring 2022 Artist-in-Residence, Ghazal Ghazi is a Tulsa-based multidisciplinary artist who was born in Tehran, Iran. In her solo show, she presents artworks that address themes of heritage and family histories. Manifested in painting and ceramic, these works continue her Monumental Miniatures series where she investigates collective memory and cultural intervention. Paintings from this body of work illuminate contemporary issues facing the Iranian-American and broader SWANA (Southwest Asian North African) and Muslim communities, within the context of diaspora, migration, state violence, and the trans-generational transmission of culture.
